NYC AI Governance and Safety

New York AI Governance and Safety (NYAIGS) is a convening organization that runs free events, including talks, panels, and workshops, that bring together New York’s AI safety, security, governance, and policy community, from researchers and builders to policymakers, funders, and journalists.

New York City brings together incredibly talented people across industries. It is an emerging hub for some of the most important challenges in AI safety, governance and security. NYAIGS connects New York’s most talented professionals to present diverse perspectives and approaches on ways to address these challenges.

Since our 2025 launch, NYAIGS has convened professionals from leading research institutions, government agencies, international organizations, civil society groups, frontier AI companies, and other organizations thinking about AI and AI safety. Highlights include a 2025 convening of experts during UN General Assembly Week on verification of international AI agreements; a 2026 book talk with Sebastian Mallaby, author of The Infinity Machine; intimate dinners with field leaders; and regular happy hours that bring our broader community together.

NYAIGS was co-founded by Patricia Paskov and Dan Altman in their personal capacities. Its staff includes CB Roman (Operations) and Annie Lehman-Ludwig (Senior Strategist).
